A horrific case of rape and brutal murder has come to light after the body of a 12-year-old child was discovered in a residential hotel in Jatrabari, Dhaka. According to preliminary police investigations and the suspect’s confession, the child was lured with food, taken to the hotel, raped, and then mercilessly beaten to death with a belt.
How It Began
On July 12, a 12-year-old child approached two men—Al-Amin (34) and Saddam—at Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka, asking about train schedules to Barisal. The men misled the child, falsely claiming that no trains operated to Barisal. The child then revealed that they had not eaten anything for nearly a day.
Seizing the opportunity, the suspects gained the child’s trust by buying them food and a pair of shoes. Later that evening, they took the child to Anwara Residential Hotel in Jatrabari, where Al-Amin booked a room under his name.
The Brutal Rape and Murder
Police investigations and Al-Amin’s confession reveal that the child was raped on the night of July 12, leaving them severely traumatized. The next morning, when the suspects attempted to assault the child again, the victim resisted. Enraged, they beat the child to death with a belt.
Discovery of the Body and Investigation Progress
On July 14, hotel staff found the room locked from the outside and alerted the police. Officers from Jatrabari Police Station broke into the room and recovered the child’s body.
Forensic examinations revealed that the child’s neck had been broken, and there were clear signs of sexual assault. An autopsy at Dhaka Medical College Hospital confirmed death by asphyxiation and injuries to the anal region.
Arrest and Confession
Al-Amin was arrested from Tongi, Gazipur, on July 19. During court proceedings, he confessed to the rape and murder. According to his statement, the second suspect, Saddam, remains at large.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and is reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel.
Victim’s Identity and Legal Action
The identity of the deceased child remains unknown. The child was wearing a checkered shirt and jeans at the time of death. Police are working to locate the victim’s family.
A case has been filed against Al-Amin under charges of child abuse and murder. Law enforcement agencies are actively searching for Saddam, the fugitive suspect.
