In a shocking incident in Dumki Upazila, Patuakhali, a twelfth-grade college student of Government Janata College has allegedly been gang-raped. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening around 7:30 PM in the Pangashia Naldoyani area, where the victim was abducted from the street and sexually assaulted. Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the case.
According to reports, the victim college student was returning to her maternal home after visiting her father’s grave. On the way, in the Munshibari area, two local youths—Sakib Munshi (19), son of Mamun Munshi, and Sifat Munshi (20), son of Sohag Munshi—abducted the college student and took her to a garden house, where they raped her. The perpetrators allegedly took photos of the college student and threatened to leak them online if she reported the incident. The following day, the college student filed a complaint at Dumki Police Station, leading to the arrest of Sakib Munshi.
Child Sexual Assault Attempts in Bagerhat
In separate incidents in Bagerhat’s Mongla and Fakirhat, two young men were arrested for attempting to rape minors. In Mongla, a 36-year-old day laborer, Ali Mollah, was caught by locals while attempting to assault an eight-year-old girl in the Parhouse Road area. He was severely beaten by the crowd before being handed over to the police. In Fakirhat, a 45-year-old van driver, Shaukat Sheikh, was arrested for attempting to rape an 11-year-old girl in the Betaga Chakuli area.
Disabled Student Raped in Rangpur
In another distressing incident, a disabled student was raped in Mithapukur, Rangpur, while returning home after private tutoring. The incident took place on Tuesday night in the Chitli Paschimpara village. The victim was later caught by locals while trying to flee the area wearing a burqa. She was severely beaten before being handed over to the police.
Elderly Man Arrested for Molesting Toddler in Noakhali
In Kabirhat, Noakhali, a 55-year-old man, Imam Hossain, was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old child. The accused is a resident of Shahrasti Upazila in Chandpur.
Garment Worker Brutally Attacked in Narayanganj
In Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, a female garment worker was brutally attacked with an iron rod, resulting in a broken arm, after she refused inappropriate advances from her training center owner, Hannan. The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Kadamtoli area. The victim, Rumi Akter Ayesha, held a press conference on Wednesday, demanding Hannan’s immediate arrest.
Elderly Man Detained for Attempted Rape in Pabna
In Chatmohar, Pabna, a 70-year-old man, Shamsher Ali, was detained by locals for attempting to rape a six-year-old girl. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Handial Union’s Baghalbari village.
Housewife Targeted in Rangamati
In Longadu, Rangamati, a young man named Sohag was arrested for attempting to rape a housewife in the Murshidabad area of Gulshakhali Union. He has since been sent to jail by the court.
