A horrific case of sexual violence has shaken the community in Chowgacha Upazila, Jashore. A 7-year-old girl became the victim of a brutal assault allegedly perpetrated by her own neighbor. The incident occurred on Wednesday (June 11) afternoon in Muktdah village under Patibila Union. The accused, Mizanur Rahman (55), has been arrested by police.
Details of the Incident
According to local sources and police reports, the girl(victim) is a second-grade student at a local government primary school. On the day of the incident, she was playing alone near her home when Mizanur Rahman forcibly took her to his house around 3 PM. There, she was subjected to a brutal sexual assault. The traumatized girl returned home bleeding and tearfully recounted the ordeal to her mother.
The accused is the son of late Karim Box from the same village.
The victim’s mother told local journalists, *”My daughter was playing near our house when Mizanur took her away by force. He raped her and then let her go. She came home crying and bleeding. We rushed her to the hospital after hearing what happened.”
Critical Medical Condition
After the assault, the child was first taken to Chowgacha Upazila Health Complex. Dr. Suraiya Parvin, the on-duty physician at the emergency department, confirmed signs of rape after a preliminary examination. She stated that the girl was suffering from severe bleeding in her private parts and was immediately referred to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) at Jashore General Hospital for advanced treatment. Her condition remains critical.
Police Action and Arrest
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain of Chowgacha Police Station confirmed the incident and said the accused, Mizanur Rahman, was arrested on the same day. The suspect is a resident of the same village and the son of late Karim Box. Police added that an investigation is underway to ensure legal action is taken.
